Why Weston Started the Shop

Weston Ready owns Backwards Bill's Garage. He has been drawing and building Broncos since grade school. He proposed to his wife in one, and he named his son Ford.

Before he owned a shop, he was a customer at other ones. The same thing kept going wrong. Nobody would give him a straight answer on the budget or the timeline.

So he built the shop he wanted to be a customer of. Weston also runs CourTex Construction, a sports construction company that has made the Inc. 5000 list five years in a row, and he brought the same systems over: a written plan, a real timeline, and a phone call before anything changes.

The rules here are short. Treat your people right, treat your customers right, and keep your word. In Weston's words, "Make your handshake stronger than any written contract."

How a Build Works Here

We take on one or two major builds at a time, on purpose. Your car gets worked on instead of waiting under a cover, by the same people from teardown to delivery.

  • A written build sheet with the scope, parts, budget and order of work, approved by you before a wrench turns
  • Teardown first, because that's where the surprises live. Anything it finds gets priced before we go further
  • Photos as the work happens, and a phone call before we spend money you didn't approve
  • At least 150 shakedown miles before it goes home
  • A walkthrough against your build sheet, a binder of every receipt and a USB drive of the whole build

Are we the cheapest shop around? No. Good parts aren't cheap, good technicians aren't cheap, and quality work takes time. We'd rather build something we're proud to put our name on than rush it out the door.

Meet the Team

There's no service desk. Whoever picks up the phone has had hands on your build, or can walk twenty feet and ask the person who has.

Weston Ready, owner of Backwards Bill's Garage

Weston Ready

Owner and CEO

Weston owns Backwards Bill's Garage. He studied business management at Texas Tech, along with marketing and advertising, and he has been starting businesses since he was a teenager.

His other company, CourTex Construction, has made the Inc. 5000 list five years in a row. Backwards Bill's is his passion business, and it runs on the same motto: relationships first, profits follow.

Cam Musgrove, master mechanic at Backwards Bill's Garage

Cam Musgrove

Master Mechanic

Cam runs the shop floor and has more than 15 years in the automotive industry. He came up through GM training, worked with Pratt Miller in professional motorsport, and was running his own Corvette race shop before he turned 21.

He was a lead technician and crew chief for an IMSA team that won multiple championships. His builds have run as center spreads in Hot Rod, Super Street and PassMag.

In 2022 he and Gumby at Speed Lab Performance built the first running, driving 7.3 Godzilla early Bronco in 26 days and showed it at Ford Fest. He has finished about 15 early Broncos so far. His favorite is Harold, a supercharged Coyote Bronco with a Tremec six-speed.

John Kemper, technician at Backwards Bill's Garage

John Kemper

Technician

John is a mechanic and fabricator with eight years in the trade, most of it on early Broncos. He graduated from the automotive program at TSTC and started his career at a Bronco shop.

His specialties are electrical systems, drivetrains, and suspension geometry and design. Three of his Broncos have won Best in Show at car shows, and a fourth won for best engine display. Weston was one of his customers before John joined the shop.

When John builds a Bronco, safety and how it drives come first.

Coleman Bement, technician at Backwards Bill's Garage

Coleman Bement

Technician

Coleman is a mechanic and fabricator with five years of hands-on experience, mostly engine swaps and restorations.

He believes a car should be built right the first time, even the parts nobody will ever see. He builds every one the way he'd want someone to build his own.

Are We the Right Shop for Your Car?

Three quick questions. Honest answers save both of us a phone call.

Do you plan to drive it, not just park it at shows?

Would you rather wait for it to be done right than have it done fast?

Is quality worth more to you than the lowest quote?

Tell Us What You've Got

It's fine if you don't have it all figured out. That's what the first call is for.

You'll hang up knowing what fits, what it costs and what comes next. If we're not the right shop for it, we'll tell you that too.
